Read below to learn some interesting details about Kevin Riady.

Thank you for speaking with us at African Hype. What’s the first thing you hope new listeners feel when listening to your music?

To be hopeful in desperate times. At the end of the day, we’re just trying to be happy and feel at ease

What is the motivation behind such a lyrically rich and melodically unique single “Home”?

Back in my hometown, I am very much a minority. For a very long time, I have been very hopeful that one day I will find people that accept me for who I am.

Discovering your own musical style is a unique part of every artist’s journey. What sets your music apart? What is unique, or at least uncommon?

Well, I have number of amateur music experiences. When I was a teenager, I joined a church choir, and then I became a flautist in a local orchestra, sang in some rock-punk band, joined some acapella groups, and last year I joined a jazz orchestra. As a result, my music is quite inspired by multiple genres.

Plus, I believe that my unique point is the lyrics that I write. Most of the songs that I wrote were actually written in about 15 mins. The reason for that is because I always try to keep everything as honest as possible. I normally draw the lyrics from my personal experiences and feelings.

What inspired you to pursue music?

I have always wanted to do music. But no one in my hometown was an artist or a musician. I always felt that music is the best language for me to communicate with other people as I am not the best talker at all.

If you didn’t like music what would you like to do?

So many things came up! Perhaps anthropologist, journalist, or chemist.

Do you have any dream collaborations? Who are they?

I haven’t thought about it. But I’d say John Ondrasik III (Five For Fighting). I listened to a lot of his music when I was growing up.

What’s your motto or the advice you live by?

I don’t have any cool one at the moment, but I would say,”Follow your heart, cause only then you can see the truth.”

Are you working on any project right now and what can we expect from you in the future?

Yes, at least two more singles are going to be released hopefully in March and April. Sort of a sequel to ‘Home’.

For our final question, is there anything else you would like to add?

Let’s build our home together, after all, we’re just trying to seek shelter in this daunting world.

Featuring eye-catching NBA clips, the music video for “Majic” elevates the jam to epic heights as you enjoy the music and get fascinated by the killer moves and dunks being unleashed by the players. This is a music clip that captivates and holds your attention.
