Exclusive Interview: LeadXeno Delves on His Creative Tastes, His Inspirations & His New Single “Betray Me”

Thanks so much for taking some time to rap it out with us here through an interview!  Stoked to talk to you about your new single & much, it’s great to have you with us.  Let’s get everyone on the same page before we start – what got you interested in music?

Honestly I don’t remember, The earliest I remember having an interest in music would probably be screaming Creep by Radiohead at the top of my lungs. That or literally every Michael Jackson song ever written, HUGE MJ fan.

Since deciding you wanted to be an artist, what’s the journey been like & where has it taken your music?

We’re really only just getting started like the journey has been long and tiring about 4 years to be precise and I’ve been making shite music for more than half of it but the whole idea of music and the whole foundation of it has completely and utterly saved and changed my life on multiple occasions.

“Betray Me” is captivating from its combination of hyped up beats and catchy lyrics. What is the motivation behind such a lyrically rich and melodically unique single?

Sleeping With Sirens. 100%. Obviously it’s not a carbon copy or the same formula as SWS but it is definitely very inspired by bands like them, Blink 182, The melody on the hook is really inspired by Chad Tepper “Loser”, vocally very Liam Gallagher inspired and just an all round anthem for the left behind, used and broken.

Which release of yours has had a large impact on your life, whether the storyline was based on a life experience or the process of putting the song together helped you approach music production differently?

As of the time this is being written I’ve only got 2 official singles out (the being Not Yet and Betray Me) both have really boosted me in very different ways. For example Not Yet changed my life because that was the first video shoot I’d been on, and it was the first original song of mine my mum had ever heard and it’s my most streamed song etc. But on the other hand Betray me was the first song I ever had on the radio, and to this day it’s one of my best vocal performances I’ve given on a song so it’s really hard to choose between them it’s like saying who’s your favorite kid so id have to just be the boring dad and say I love them both equally!

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I work REALLY hard and I mean like REALLY hard, I’m really not the type to toot my own horn but 24/7 my mind is only on and always will be on ways to improve my music. Vocally, Production-wise, Collaborations, Promotion, any way you can really think of to try and improve music-wise I’ve probably thought about it. And I’ve got about 100 unreleased songs so it’s not always just mentally.

Are you working independently or with any production house or recording label?

1000% Independent at the minute, the idea of having a label behind me doesn’t terrify me but they would have to just want me. I refuse to filter myself and I refuse to be anyone’s puppet.

What’s your motto or the advice you live by?

Love. Your. Self. I think a lot of people underestimate the power you have when you love yourself for me it’s the most important thing to have in your life ever and I think so many people are scared to love themselves because they wouldn’t want to come across as a cunt or arrogant or self-obsessed and you can definitely go wrong and become an egomaniac but it’s just about having that self-control and treating everyone who deserves it with the same respect you give yourself. Then it’s balanced.

Do you have any dream collaborations? Who are they?

Most definitely, right now Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon is top of the list but it changes like every week. Travis Barker, Yungblud, Machine Gun Kelly, Kellin Quinn, Any of the Gallaghers and definitely blink 182 there my biggest inspiration by far!

For our final question, is there anything else you would like to add?

Zero Boundaries is either out or is coming out very soon by the time you’re reading this it’s a 5 song, 15-minute ep with a bonus track on Spotify. Go listen. Definitely tell me what you think. Have a great day and love yourself!!!
