Feeling the connection between a singer and the lyrics is as sporadic as it is finding the right song that fits your current emotions. The young and talented artist, Wes, has proven to behold the rare gift of singer-songwriter-producer talent, something he evinces in his new single, Highs and Lows.

“Highs and Lows” is a beautiful piece that delves into the visceral emotions we try to enshroud into our inner core. You know, those feelings that inveigle us into believing that we are okay when in reality, it is the opposite.

The artist debuted with an album, Escape, earlier this year. He has quite a number of singles ranging from Indie pop to Rnb, to which you can jam, but the new single, Highs and Lows, is a wave of calm with its natural soothing track and captivating lyrics.

What Wes has managed to do, is blend the sweet melody that is his vocals, with the unique acoustic sound of the guitar loop to create something so rich and ethereal. The song allows you to effortlessly listen to the lyrics without getting overwhelmed by the instrumentals.

The light and smooth timbre in the entirety of the song provides a beautiful ambiance in which you have no choice but to be enthralled. The harmony between the instrumental and the voice is adroitly coordinated with subtle retro beats that bring about an old nostalgic feeling coupled with bits of contemporary.

All this is to be expected from someone who creates their own beats. And even with artists such as Justin Bieber, Poo Bear, and Pink Sweats present to provide inspiration for the new singer, Wes has managed to produce a piece that is so uniquely him. From the beats to the lyrics and right down the tone, Wes has managed to find his music.

The lyrics, for one, address an emotion everyone has felt at some point in their life. You know, that suffocating feeling that the walls are closing in on you. But, like a balm to the soul, the message behind the chorus works to remind us of that special person who is always there to stop us from drowning.

The song is a beautiful reminder that it’s okay to feel broken and alone.

A Jack of all trades, the Oregon-based artist, is also an entrepreneur. He is a designer and owner of the West Coast Culture, an original clothing and design company.
