A prolific 5-piece alternative hardcore band based out of Chicago, IL We Weren’t Invited has been navigating today’s contemporary rock landscape with an air of authenticity mixed with that natural vulnerability. This band’s music is genre-defying and can be described as a unique blend of the classic hard rock, with a dash of Rock N’ Roll and a hint of Nu-metal. We Weren’t Invited have been presenting some of the most melodically complex body of works, displaying complete passionate engagements as they celebrate life’s most intoxicating illusions atop some intricate melodic motifs and layering builds up, echoing what’s really possible in celebrating life’s passions and that insatiate pursuit of spotless beauty in music and creative art!
The band is back and has made an entrance with their new EP, “Flesh Vehicle Pt. 2,” which is a sequel to “Flesh Vehicle Pt. 1” which illuminated the airwaves just a few months ago! True to their craft, which is rooted in deep dynamism and cultural sound diversity, a listener can expect an authentically tapped and passionately served body of work to last them a lifetime!
Depending on how you want to start your day, you can enjoy this EP from the more laid-back and understatedly mellow “Fragile Castle” to the incredibly vibrant “Sorry 2 Piss On Your Pity Party” and by the time you get to the uncontrollably high-spirited and rip-rollicking “Refund?”, then your day will have taken another vivacious turn!
The raw intensity of the guitar riffs and the animated punches of the drums are some of my favorite bits in “Bored”; – this is an absolutely powerful anthemic hard rock that has a roaring presence. Through the guitarist’s bloodthirsty determination and the drummer’s menacing fury, a listener is able to witness We Weren’t Invited’s passion. The fast-paced, distorted guitar riffs complemented by the lead singer’s screaming style that augment the genre appeal of glam metal rock are “Bored” in a nutshell!
“Sorry 2 Piss On Your Pity Party” features some clean guitar notes complemented by that vibrant alternative rock feel. It is actually quite intriguing to get to experience each member of this spectra rock outfit present their piece masterfully for one encompassing and seamless body of art.
We Weren’t Invited manages to build up tension and grit as they go on to deliver another brutally menacing performance in the banger “A Fly on the Wall (Nobody is Home)”. Genre-wise, this record is drenched in hard rock, showcasing once again the instrumental prowess possessed by We Weren’t Invited. There is that savage vibe to the performance, which in turn infects the listener, making them operate at seriously dangerous levels!
What’s that angst in “Refund” because I absolutely love it! A rip-roaring anthem that features the nostalgia of hard rock mixed with the reverberance of the Nu-metal, this is the perfect soundtrack to fight your demons to. Radiating with extremely uncontainable energy and bolstered by We Weren’t Invited’s lead and backing growling and raspy vocals, you just have to dig it in like a religious experience!
To at least bring you back to earth safely, We Weren’t Invited were kind enough to create “Fragile Castle,” which features some crisp, clean, and gracefully hit guitar tones and is supplemented with some favorably delicate vocal harmonies that induce a listener with that much-needed peace and bliss.
Why should you listen to We Weren’t Invited and their latest, “Flesh Vehicle Pt. 2”? One might ask: “Well, in a world brimming with superficial lyricism and forgery-grabbed art, We Weren’t Invited walks the path towards forthright artistry that has been timelessly tapped and lovingly served!”
