After Wayne F.O.G’s exceptional EP “Ready For Love” was released, we caught up with an insightful interview with such a talented artist to explore his eidetic experience and what he had to say about his incredible musical journey so far. Read below to learn some interesting details about Wayne
Where do you originally hail from and where are you based now?
I come from Harare. I’ve been here since I started in music.
Congratulations on your new release “Ready For Love” How are you feeling about sharing this with the world?
I feel excited. I’m sharing more than music in this EP. I’m introducing myself as an artist and I’m giving people a taste of the music that is yet to come. These are my real life experiences and when people listen carefully, I know they are getting to learn a little about who I am too.
What was the inspiration behind “Ndiri Ndega”?
I was reassuring someone that i will be there. I was explaining that I am working hard so that I can build a life where I can provide for those I love… Sometimes a partner or loved one might feel like the wait has gone on for too long. This song was me asking for patience and belief in my journey.
Do you get nervous before you release new music or is it more of an excitement for you?
Sometimes I will be thinking how are people going to recieve my music. But, it can also be exciting to finally shard something you have worked so hard on and listen to the feedback from people… In the end, I feel like it helps me to improve and music is made to be shared and to be enjoyed.
Are there any specific elements you like to throw into your songs?
I like bringing unusual backings to make my songs sound different to something you have heard before. I explore through music and, there is always my true emotion in it.
What do you miss the most about performing live for a crowd?
I miss the ability to connect with people. It always gives me energy and motivates me seeing other people find enjoyment in my music. Performing kinda helps me to become a complete artist. There’s nothing better than to watch people come together over something you worked hard creating.
What are the biggest lessons you’ve learned this past decade?
For me, I would say that the biggest lesson I have learned, is to never stop growing and developing. This time next year I envision myself representing Zimbabwe on an international level in new ways.
Where do you see your career headed in the following year?
Growing with each day and seizing every opportunity. I see myself making new blueprints for Zimbabwean’s and finding ways to bring great people along on this journey with me.
