A special type of gift to weave through instruments in those purely unique and mystical male vocals with a stunning talent for composing expressive, melodic, and powerful songs; this is the musical story of Jesus “Jesse” Diaz -a musician and composer born in California who discovered his musical ability on the summer of 2008 right before high school. The funny part is that he never thought in his wildest dreams that he’d ever pursue a career in music but when interest turned to passion he obliged and look at him now! Jesse founded his solo project “VII of Wands” in 2016 after a period of collaboration with other bands as a guitar and bass player. The name carries a repertoire of phenomena to mean a variety of things such as perseverance, self-defense, defiance, resiliency among many other things. His eclectic discography boasts of some joyous singles, EPs and albums such as “Hourglass” the 2020 album, “Blue Moon Diary” the EP and a mesmerizing single “Calmer Waters”. His musical influences vary from alternative rock, pop-rock, modern rock and folk among many other genres post-rock explorative genres and as a lyricist, he likes to express himself in life, love, and the truth that lies deep within us.

From the candid spectrum of the track “Dear Ana” which is an exquisite track that features the charming touch of the guitars spread with acoustic beauty and marked with enchanting drums, call and response motif between the melodies and the vocals, there is also a subtle hint of the acoustic guitars that are quintessential of the country genre. There is a great deal of melodicism and emotional vocal display to whisk a listener to a universe overflowing with love! The track “Calmer waters” has a laid-back melodicism like the title suggests, refreshingly calming and moving a listener to bits with the melodic guitars and riffs, the mystical and powerful vocals on display are delicious and surprisingly smooth in addition to being distinctive. “Forgiveness” from his “Blue Moon Diary” EP opens to a mesmeric mi-solo guitar and the addition of other guitar strings and the moderate drums that are highly melodic is a brilliantly authentic slice of spicy melodicism that inspires a listener marvelously. His mellifluous vocals make for a wonderfully engaging performance that fills the track from head to toe. “Astral Planes” from his “Hourglass” album is beautifully atmospheric and saturated in an abundance of absorbing textures and tones with the impassioned guitars and melodic drum motifs combined with the excellent use of post rock percussion that infuses the track’s new age aesthetic with some delicate hints of broader world music influences, resulting in a rich and sonically intriguing piece of music that is continually evolving throughout its duration. And the vocals take off like a plane and soar high in the skies beyond the reach of common mediocrity.
