Conscious Rapper Ty Bru Brings Purpose to The Society With His Witty Wordplay in “A Single Black & Bloody Rose”

Ty Bru‘s new track “A Single Black & Bloody Rose” speaks eloquently on behalf of both the talent and brings exposure to the concerns that still stand tall in 2021, combining a crisp and traditional hip hop sound with a deeply conscious and topically pertinent rap backbone. Ty Bru collaborates with JUDAH PRIEST and Black Panther Party member SEVEN DA PANTHA on the single.

Judah Priest kicks off the song with classic lucidity and a smart hook, slight theatrics and a soothing, melodic groove and intensity that are quick to engage.

Blending historical references with a visibly knowledgeable perspective and a few personal experiences just to keep things honest, Seven Da Pantha takes you into the single with crafted bars that form a solid storyline that is amplified by the overall soundscape of the track.

The single is a slow burner, and rightly so – to listen and allow the shifting stages of the track, its poetic honesty and raw, legitimate presentation,  is meant to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the march, which was such a powerful moment in North Carolina’s history and paved the way for some drastic changes since then. “A Single Black & Bloody Rose” also lets us see the underlying complexities and injustices that we have all grown painfully aware of in recent times, such as the worldwide impactful murder of George Floyd.

On the final third, Ty Bru incorporates considerably deeper historical references, keeping things comprehensive, not too personal, but in touch with a bigger notion and community. Similarly, Ty Bru’s voice exudes confidence and actualization – the intonation, the lyricism, the emotion; you can feel these lyrics, striking from the front lines of experience, and his storytelling captivates. It’s tremendous writing with brilliant references, and it’s worth listening to more than once. Great music and a good reminder to brush up on your knowledge of community and historical events.

The composition and melody of this entire record is beautifully ethereal, transporting you back to simpler times of good Hip Hop music while simultaneously reigniting simplicity amidst hard-hitting bars and delivery from today’s scene.

While this project is relevant and topically focused, it is also an excellent introduction to the rapper and music producer Ty Bru. If you’re unfamiliar with his work or simply searching for some new hip hop with intellectual idea framing and conscious lyricism, “A Single Black & Bloody Rose” is the place to be.
