I live for the music that allows me peace of mind; one that evokes some kind of pleasantly soothing feelings in me and that is exactly the kind of music you get from promising artist Sidney Harwell’s discography. His eclectic style blends the scintillating features of folk with his intimate lo-fi-like production. With the release of his new album “Leaving for a While”, Sidney has burst into the streaming scene with a splash as he seeks to take his career to new heights.

The songs that make up this album were recorded in 2020 and he planned on using them as supporting singles for his next studio album but he never got the studio time he’d have needed to make it happen and so he decided to put them together to what is now the “Leaving for a While” album; you can call it whatever you like, a blessing in disguise even because this whole piece is a deserved standout collection of its own with some pretty therapeutic music that breaks the boundaries within indie folk in spectacular fashion.

I love how calm and relaxed the tracks are. His whispery, plush vocals do well to heighten the impact each tune carries as he takes a listener through a plethora of emotions from one track to the other. I enjoyed a great deal with some standout tunes like “Three Roads” “Colossus”, “Poppy Court”, “Let’s Go Together” and “Lady Liberty” having a grand impact on me.

The guitar melodies in “Three Roads” for example backed by Sidney’s alluring and honeyed vocals give off a blissful listening experience. The soothing elements build around the tune are also a strong highlight of its likability.

Throughout the album’s length, there is a way that each tune transitions into the other whilst the album still manages to remain seamless and coherent as an authentic body of work! The tracks are intimate, delivered with passion, and feel indescribably comforting!

If you are having one of those days where nothing is working for you, worry not because this is the perfect album for you; follow the attached link to stream “Leaving for a While” in its entirety and add the tunes you enjoy most to your playlist!
