I’m just through listening to RXCO NATAL’s new project “GOD’S WILL”- a 9-track project including the conversational “INTRO”, “SKIT” and “OUTRO” and all I can is that it feels like he invented the art of emceeing, and this is in no way an exaggeration. Born in South Africa, Durban, and now based out of Switzerland, music was always the thing RXCO leaned towards more; it provided him with sanctuary and helped him escape from the harsh realities of the world. With such an insatiate passion for the game ever since he was of tender age, it was only natural that he would gravitate towards a professional music career when opportunity gave!
RXCO NATAL is anything but ordinary. He has managed to carve out a niche lane for himself towards a kind of versatile and limitless hip-hop style that honors the very foundation on which hip hop was built and still looks ahead for the future…he comes as you might say, the whole package.
“GOD’S WILL” is simply a project that depicts RXCO NATAL’s life—the ups and downs, his upbringing, and everything he’s been through. It is the very peak of RXCO NATAL backed by soulful, menacing, and hypnotic beats.
“INTRO” is like RXCO’s brief autobiography, just to introduce himself to the listener—who he is and where he comes from—and set the tone for the entire project.
“DIE YOUNG” is a masterpiece that is geared towards honest artistry and timeless songwriting and features a soulful vibe as RXCO taps into a very personal space to deliver something that will connect to you on a deep emotional level.
Right from the intro, the anime-like version of Luther Ingram’s “If Loving You Is Right” invites the listener before NATAL makes an entrance and proceeds to lay the wood with his signature rap performance that takes the listener to another dimension. The strength of “DIE YOUNG” lies in its dynamics, thoughtfulness, and invention.
“LET US GO” is another epic piece that feels like the greatest representation of RXCO’s lyrical dominance. He comes off aggressive with a punchline-heavy delivery containing a lethal concoction of diverse cadences infused with unmatched energy and heartfelt lyrical conviction. This track is one of the hardest and most direct songs on the album. RXCO never fails to stamp his indelible imprint with his analytical wordplay, hard punchlines, and freakish flows over the dazzling production.
“WAY I GET IT” is also one of my favorites and features a guest performance by the one and only Rick Rozzey. A head-banging masterpiece, I feel RXCO and Ross exude such an indestructible chemistry together that makes this one a certified banger. NATAL proves that he is worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as some of the global hip hop superstars with an astonishing delivery.
“ROCKIN WIT” featuring Dizzy Wright is another favorite to die for. The beats are sick and have been escorted by that smooth deliverability, with guest artist Dizzy Wright adding to the thrill and likeability of this smash hit.
There have been some great albums last year and this year already, and “GOD’S WILL” is up there with the best.
For any devotee of innovative hip hop music, you don’t want to miss out on this greatness from someone at the summit of his creative expression.
