When you look from a distance, The Gambia surroundings are chill and serene as the tourists move from one destination to the next, their faces plastered with genuine glee at such beauty, warmth, and friendly nature of the people and the surroundings that engulf them. But beyond those green vegetation, the magical scene of the wild animals and the infectious warmth of the locals are so much more – what exactly? One might wonder and this is where our artist of the day Rahma The Bass comes in; she is a singer, double bassist, and songwriter with Gambian roots and has also lived in the United States and the Netherlands. She has been singing her whole life and has been playing the double bass since the age of 10. She has also performed at notable music events such as at the FNCC (Franco Namibian Cultural Center, Warehouse Theater, Chopsi’s, for the Indonesian Embassy, and Cramers in Namibia just to mention a few.

Her latest track “Senegambia Street” came from her inspiration living in The Gambia and tries to depict a completely different scenario between the tourist view of The Gambia and its cities and the people actually living there; their cultural practices, their mentalities and their social and economic welfare – she did this by complementing her angelic and mellifluous rich vocals with the calm and laid-back groove that pulls through a listener at a closer distance and whispers to their soul and nourishes their body, mind and soul like the invigorating winds, chilly beaches and the sultry and tropical sun.

The crisp and refreshing touch of the guitars and the rhythmic edge added at the chorus with the addition of the double bass guitar evokes a glamorous listening experience and the way she handles her vocals right from the start to the end is in itself an exotic experience to behold. There is an unadulterated purity to her voice and certain femininity and confidence to her delivery that gets a listener to pay attention willingly as they marvel at such magnificence!

She is expected to officially release this single on the 18th  of March 2022 and it is set to be one of her musical highlights of 2022 and what an eye she is about to have! Rahma The Bass is the female artist to keep an eye and ear out in 2022!
