He is the literal meaning of started from the bottom and now he is here! Making his way off of the basement of his dad’s house to join the “Phenomenal Entertainment” with a group of friends in the year 2002, T’Andre Harris alias P-Lotus has been through it all-the highs and the lows and he still remains unshaken and steadfast in his own music and his dynamic “Productive hip-hop” sound that he is pushing; he describes his unique sound as the evolved version of the 90s and 00s gangsta rap that we grew up listening to!

Growing up he was influenced by music by iconic rap geniuses like; Master P, Lil Wayne, Nas, Eminem, DMX, Jay Z, and Tupac among other conscious rappers who made impactful music that ware sensitive of the community and the world as it were during those times. He is now a qualified rapper of his own and seeks to not only entertain with his lyrical knowledge but to create an impact with his music so that listeners listening in can actually get some take-homes from his captivating rap flows masked in between melodic hip-hop beats!

“Emotions” was actually the title of his 2018 album and he is now taking his time this year to release every single that made up that album every new week until the album is fully dropped. The title track “Emotions” is an infectious 4 minutes long of pure rap fantasy and deeply impactful engineered sound that only he is capable of delivering!

The tune announces its presence in that playful call and response-like instrumental motif that is followed in unison by his freshly polished vocals as he makes a killing off of this simple yet affecting beat! Utilizing a vast array of versatility, P-Lotus makes an anthem of this sensitizing tune- ebbing and flowing hard and delivering some effortless rhyme schemed wordplay along the way “Should I take it as a threat or take it as a bet,

Either way I take it, it’ll make her upset,

He can take you out but can you make you that wet…”a

This tune details the good, the bad and the ugly of a relationship and now that Kendrick Lamar’s own “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” is out, the essence of the message behind “Emotions” is resonant with Lamar’s “We Cry together” (at least that’s how I see it!).
