Orie919 joins us again to discuss his music, his inspirations, and what we can expect from him in the future! Make sure to check out our interview below:
Where do you originally hail from and where are you based now?
I’m a Raleigh North Baby born and raised 1605|B Burgurndy St Raleigh NC. I once stayed almost in every apartment complex here in the city, but we made our way back to Da North. I had a wild childhood the shit was weird. I’m still based here in the city (Raleigh) tho, I just don’t stay in the projects no more.
“I’m On” is captivating from the start to finish with a combination of unique beats and catchy lyrics. What was the inspiration behind the single?
It’s funny you asked, one of my potners came to me with the song. The song already had hem and another one of my potners already on it, he was like bro I need you on this. I heard it and instantly jumped straight on the mic. He put the homie on it and that made it 4 of us but we never pushed or did anything with it, shot a lil video and that was it.
So one day I hit my potner and told them I wanted to revamp and push “I’m On” and he was like cool, so I got up with my producer/ Engineer(JustinArtist) and he got to work, he changed the beat, put his unique sound on it and
How would you sum up your musical journey so far?
It’s had its up and downs, I mean it’s been exciting and some call bull shit at the same time, having artists out of my city that’s willing to help and collab with each other. Then you have the other ones thinking they better than everyone when the numbers don;’t match what they saying. That shit that fuck me up.
What or who has influenced your sound and style?
I don’t really have a ‘who’ but the ‘what’ I will have to say my City plays a big part In what kind of music I produce. I love pain music with a little bop to it.
What has remained as your constant source of inspiration?
I’ma keep it 100 with you, my fans are my biggest inspiration. They consistently ask where the new music at and that alone keeps me going.
Describe your favorite and least favorite part about being a musician.
My favorite thing about being a musician is being able to make music that people can relate to and also feel how you feel just off listening to my music.
How do you deal with the pressures of being a star and the constant adulation from fans?
Being a star, lol, I never looked at it like that. I think that’s why I move like I do just trying to feed my daughters, I’ll take money, never really liked the fame. I wouldn’t really say my fans bring me pressure either, I think they antagonize us because they think it’s time the artist to put new music out. I look at my fans like my own music alarm clock when they go off it’s time to work.
For our final question, is there anything else you would like to add?
Naah, not too much just know I been putting on the city for over 10 years. I put together the biggest song to ever come out of Raleigh NC 8 years ago. Mr. Dats Rite been on this shit.
