Nias Miller joins us again to discuss his music, his inspirations, and what we can expect from him in the future! Make sure to check out our interview below:
“Be yourself” is captivating from the start to finish with a combination of unique beats and catchy lyrics. What was the inspiration behind the single?
I was initially trying to write a positive song that a Major Brand would find appealing for one of their campaigns.
I experimented with Deep House (like Calvin Harris), and EDM mixed with Pop / R&B. After hearing the different versions I scaled up the EDM track and started shaping it in the style of Tritonal. The message of “don’t worry about haters Be Yourself” remained.
How do you go about producing a song?
I normally start with a basic idea and shape it progressively letting the song take shape. I meticulously then pay attention to arrangement production and performance.
Do you have a favorite musical project that you’ve worked on?
My dream collaborations would be artists like Miguel and Sade. They have their own unique sound, expand the boundaries of R&B, and artistically they aren’t “cookie cutter” artists.
What’s your motto or the advice you live by?
A lot happening in these times, and people are under stress. I recommend staying positive, remember who you personally are, which looks different in each situation,. And always represent yourself in a way that you can live with, because ultimately you’ll have to.
If you had one message to give your fans, what would it be?
I hope if all goes well, to release new music soon. If you like what I do support it, and any other artist that you feel on a deeper level. It takes a lot for us to put ourselves out here this way. Your support and validation allow us to keep doing what we love at a high level or standard.
