In the run-up to her next album DNA which arrives early next year, Cameroon-American singer, Myra Maimoh has unveiled a soulful new song “Dear Daddy”, that shows off her gripping voice which is perfect for the emotional lyrics and effectively, we are treated to a sublime piece.

Myra Maimoh, is a songwriter and singer with a mission to enrich, enhance and inspire people through songs and language. The style of Myra is inspired by legendary artists including, for example, Miriam Makeba, Manu Dibango, Skeeter Davies, James Brown, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and many others. She has created the Motherland Cultural Connections and hosts the Motherland CookingXperience, a forum that allows immigrants with connections to Africa to showcase their talents through food, Music, arts and storytelling.

“Dear Daddy”  charms listeners with its euphoric sounds that carry a complex rhythm and makes use of raw acoustic guitar which pairs well with her heartwarming voice. The single finds her painting a vivid image to her Daddy of all that’s happening in the world. She talks about how the Coronavirus Pandemic has affected left most of us feeling lonely, which let’s be honest: we are all in the funk right now. Life is nothing but routine, at home, we are stuck, we can’t travel or do much of what makes us comfortable and happy, heck, most of got laid off from our jobs.

The first verse of the song is about the family, how thriving and happy they are. She also speaks about the wrongs – the conflict in her birthplace Cameroon and how it has been unpredictable elsewhere. The bridge of the song has an optimistic, joyful mood, which says that life should be completely vibrant regardless of what happens. This together with other issues like #ENDSARS in Nigeria, #BlackLivesMatter. A story which bears the moral to tell us that regardless of the difficult time, we can always look forward with positive expectations

It is smooth, beautiful, and has a solid message.
