Mr Streetz is a UK-based lyrist from the streets of London who has lately been capturing the attention of key industry players as well as new listeners with his hands-on approach to hip-hop. He has a powerfully unusual and expressive voice and excels brilliantly at the fusion of classic hip-hop energy and spacious intimacy whilst also managing to pay homage to the grime style that was so much associated with his predecessors in the UK rap scene. Musical competence, experience, and artistic skills give Mr Streetz’s tracks that deep and vibrant life.
He has a new banger titled appropriately, “Hood Therapy” – for starters, that cover art is ridiculously good. This is a film-like stunner with Mr Streetz assuming a lyrical conversation between three people all by himself.
Laying the perfect bed of support for his powerful voice to flourish the beats are cinematically layered; Mr Streetz jumps right into the melodic train, taking a listener to a couples therapy session where he is the man, the wife, and the therapist; lyrical switching with his different voices as he unleashes a matchless performance that is deserving of an Oscar!
He displays such smart wordplay as he takes us on the reeling of a toxic couple who are trying to seek therapy but at the end of it all, it is determined that they are too toxic for each other and thus there is no hope for that relationship working.
This is a matchless performance as he goes raw, direct with his no-holds-barred lyrical approach showcasing that dynamic side to his style that is praiseworthy. This track was actually inspired by his own situation where he was caught up in a toxic relationship and this delivery from an honest point of view makes it emotionally relatable.
I have a feeling “Hood Therapy” will be in high rotation everywhere as it has all the qualities of a mainstream record with such inspired songwriting and passionate delivery.
