How would you describe the music that you typically create?

I love to tell a story, that may be an actual event(either my own or someone else’s) It has to flow, to get right to the point, and to cause the listener to pay attention and give notice.

Please tell us more about your single “Something To Believe In.” How did this song first come together and what is the inspiration behind it?

Producer Bryan Cole brought this to me. I was looking to do an inspirational song, a song of hope. He felt I could get just that with this song. We wanted to bring some blues and some gospel and a ballad theme to it! It is a beautiful song! I love how it flows, how it builds and builds until it sings “freedom”!

Tell us about your favorite performance in your career.

I have so many! But my favorite was when I was performing for the Riverside Blues Festival in Elkins, WV! The next day was gospel Sunday. I was so excited to sing with some local musicians there. Town’s people came to the church and sang. It was wonderful to experience such fellowship with them. People were simply happy that such a great time could be done!

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

The internet has given a boost to the music business. Streaming, videos, podcasts. The possibilities are endless. It is the way techno has brought music to the forefront. I feel music, of any genre, is more popular than ever before!

You have an amazing voice. Are you vocally trained?

Awwwww! Thank you. I am not vocally trained. Over the years I watch live and video performances, listen to the radio, CDs. I practice a lot. Now I am taking vocal lessons (that is the truth!). I want to learn the “mechanics” of singing and how it flows. I have a great vocal teacher, Beth Claussen. She has coached several local musicians!

How do you deal with writer’s block?

I wait for something to wake up my creativity. It could be a conversation, the smell of food (yes, that does happen for me! Wink, wink) , a dream, a speech, listening to music. Anyway, I can get that creativity going! I am on it! It takes a lot of patience!

What according to you holds the most importance, fame, respect, or money?

Respect! Cause with respect will come the money, and then fame. Having self-respect and respect for others is the most rewarding! I have found people will want to keep working with you!

For our final question, is there anything else you would like to add?

I want everyone out there to continue listening to my music. Stay tune cause my Blues/gospel roots album will be out early fall!
