Ever since she stepped into the musical scenes in 1996, Pittsburgh’s “Lady of The Blues” has blessed and healed many souls with her blissful and moving music and although her journey has not been an all bed of roses seeing that she battled with breast cancer in 1998 finally emerging victorious in 2004, she has continued to give back by engaging in charity work in helping cancer patients and survivors, involving herself in breast cancer research foundation, caring for the homeless veterans and her genuine contributions towards ending domestic violence.  She also boasts a diverse range of musical influences such as Koko Taylor, Etta James, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Big Mama Thornton, Bessie Smith, and “Big” Al Leavitt, and true to her nature she has continued to design eclectic and distinct Blues sound with her powerful and technically skilled vocals that have made the world to take notice winning numerous prestigious accolades in the process including her emergence as the “2020 City Paper Reader’s Poll winner for Best Blues. “Something to Believe In” is emotionally reminiscent, a genuine display of real life that has been imbued by her own signature, lyrical curves, Blues coos, and stellar production that is even made more beguiling by the background choir dulcet voices and the euphonious complex blend of the background instrumentations that gives the tune its timeless appeal.

Her virtuosic vocals influence the appealing melody easing up the mind of a listener with the distinguishable bluesy rhythmic flow amidst the moments of syncopation that lays emphasis on the dissonant harmony that has been artistically layered with the drum kit, the piano keyboard, tambourine, the acoustic and electric guitars to complete off an undeniable groove. The brilliant tone emanating from the track is evidence of the melodic improvisation that stretches the boundaries of the harmony as they freely integrate and interact with the ensemble to give off a detailed and creative blues sound.

At the end of it all, this motivational alluring tune is encouraging to every listener to seek within themselves and find that which they believe in for in the end they will find something to believe in. “I found something to believe in” delivered in her own angelic voice forms part of the lyrics that will undeniably resonate with listeners everywhere. Miss Freddye has crafted a burgeoning music career and I’m music fanatics are eagerly waiting for the rest of the releases which promises to be equally stupendous.
