Sheer genius is demonstrated by the fascinating versatile music producer and songwriter Misha Kolesoski in his new albums “A Year on Mercury” and “A Year on Mars.” The impeccable artist’s tracks are creatively entertaining and captivate the audience with an immersive and catchy vibe.
We’re lucky enough to have sneaked in for an interview with a talented artist. He was generous enough to lend some of his precious moments as we gleefully stumbled deep into his personal and professional life. Here are some excerpts from the interview:
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
Thanks for having me – for the most part I’m a composer, songwriter, and writer. I started pretty early on in life but still trying to figure out what I want to say. It’s tough when it seems like everything has already been said.
Where do you originally hail from and where are you based now?
I grew up in a US military family. So, we moved from the East Coast of the US, to Japan, to Arizona. Now I live in Oregon on the West Coast of America.
Congratulations on your latest album “A Year on Mercury”, how do you feel about the newfound success?
Thanks! “A Year on Mercury” is actually only half of the project, it’s a double album which also includes “A Year on Mars” It’s been crazy – mostly because there are so many performers on the album and the response ranges anywhere from “is this all the same musician?” to things more positive. Overall, I’m really grateful.
What was the inspiration behind the album?
Well, my wife passed away about two years ago – and I started writing the tracks initially with the intention of collaborating with local artists. This was mostly as a way to work through the grief. Later, I found that the lyrics and melodies flowed more smoothly once I embraced that it was an album about loss.
What single off the album do you anticipate it’s taking off both on charts and with listeners/fans?
I think any of the tracks from Kali Malia or Tim Condor – both of their voices are Amazing.
Take a minute to reflect and share anything else about “A Year on Mars”
Well, initially I didn’t expect to be creating a double album, but as the project started to take shape I realized that I had way more material than just one LP. Then in “Sunrise over Arsia” Sketch27 makes a comment about “guess I’ll go back to Mars then,” and I thought “OK, guess we’re doing two albums then.”
What has remained as your constant source of inspiration throughout the years?
Mostly other people’s music
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I’m a big fitness fanatic – I need my gym time in order to stay sane, which is difficult because I injured my foot recently and can’t do my cardio.
Thank you for speaking with us! For our final question, is there anything else you would like to add?
Thanks again – only that I would love it if everyone gave the albums a listen.
