After Michael M Jeni’s uniquely written single “ Relapse” was released, we caught up with an insightful interview with such a talented artist to explore his eidetic experience and what he had to say about his incredible musical journey so far. Read below to learn some exciting details about Michael M Jeni and his musical journey.

Thanks for speaking with us! How’s everything going? “Thank you for having me, everything’s is going well, the snow is melting, the sun’ is shining, it’s good vibes out there.”

What sets your music apart? What is unique, or at least uncommon? My music is heavily AfroPop/AfroBeat themed, when you hear it, it’s uptempo,  makes you want to dance, or just vibe with it, also you got a balance, you got your songs that are “turn up” summer records, then you got the sad, heartbreak records that come in as well, it’s all a balance, what you allow in you’re life is what you’ll write story about, and then into a song. Be mindful, but you know… have fun!

What is the story behind such a lyrically rich and melodically unique single “Relapse”?

What or who has influenced your sound and style? “Man, relapse I started April 2020 while finishing up a summer  single…. I collaborated with a great R&B artist and brother Moise on this song… The beat was produced by Young OG Beats in Madagascar, with vocals accompanied by “Lyrique J” who is a platinum writer and recording artist for Chris Brown, Beyonce, Rihanna, and other…. I listen to a lot of Congolese music, and overall African Music… When I make my songs… the bass in the instrumental has to be apparent… it gives a groove for the listener. For me, I wasn’t in a rush to release this particular song, February 28, 2021 the song was released. Two months shy of a year… I can proudly say this is my best song to date, the emotions, the story, the memories just the overall process of what went into “relapse” I’ll never forget. The craziest thing to me is that, the things I sing and write about, get spoke into existence….

Do you have a dream venue where you would like to perform sometime in the future?

I’ve seen some of my favorite African artists

Like Koffi Olomide, Fally Ipupa, werrason, and others perform on YouTube in Paris. It would be my dream to Perform at “Accord Arena Hotel Bercy” (20,000 capacity) or “Zenith De Paris” (6,000 capacity)

What according to you holds the most importance, fame, respect, or money?

“Respect… Money & fame come, at the same time both are a dangerous combination at an excess amount… If I have the respect of my peers, family and others that I truly care about, that’s good enough for me. “

What’s something that most people do not know about you?

“Most people don’t know about me is that, I decided I have a new single dropping soon…YES new summer single very soon… Right now we’re almost done planning the video for relapse, and production has already begun on the summer single, so I’m excited.”

For our final question, is there anything else you would like to add?

“Thank you so much for taking the time to interview me, please check out my new single release, music video is definitely  dropping soon.”
