Charlotte-Based Multifaceted Artist Markis Woods Turns Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights” Inspiration Into His Own Masterpiece Dubbed “GOOd Timing”

This is the effortless work of one multi-genre up-and-coming artist, Markis Woods, originally from Atlanta and now based out of Charlotte. He confessed that music has always been inside his DNA since he was like 6 years old, and after listening to the work he did on “GOOd Timing”, it’s really hard, close to impossible, to argue… This man is telling the truth. As a matter of fact, I feel he possessed an insatiable passion for music while still in his mother’s womb!

Back to “GOOd Timing”: if you have ever listened to Kanye West’s 2007’s “Flashing Lights,”  then you have a recollection or at least a glimpse of the quality of sound we are on about here. Tell you what, 14 years later and the beat still hits hard, I couldn’t blame Markis for never losing its feeling; it’s undeniably addicting!

Now as someone who builds his work from scratch without necessarily depending on pre-recorded cues and samples, Markis Woods really manages to give his version of “GOOd Timing” a futuristic vibe whilst still managing to honor the original composition!

Woods kind of manages to use the track’s creative foundation as a springboard to reach new, invigorating musical ground with the sweeping strings, drenched keys, and striking percussive bravado, evoking a gloriously cinematic feeling that feels terrifically expressive in its execution. The instrumentation is flawlessly chosen, providing the listener with a dizzyingly diverse and extravagantly opulent palette of sounds to digest!

And that cover art is an ingenious depiction of imagination too; Markis Woods no doubt adds flair to this masterpiece, a highlight to his exquisiteness and sound design expertise!
