African Hype Sit Down w/ Maceo Musa
Was there anyone or anything in particular that pushed you to pursue music?
It was a mixture of both. Going through life and watching people around me do music, I decided to give it a try.
What has your musical journey been like? Run us through your story.
It took time to even be comfortable with the idea of me making music. Overall, my journey has been interesting, I get to see how this whole being an artist thing works. Especially being an indie artist. I just have to continue working one hundred times harder to make it.
I started making music with my cousin Cal El and together we formed a group called DiNxsty.
Then from there I wanted to work on my solo projects which led me to release six of them in one year.
What is the motivation behind such a lyrically rich and melodically unique single “Picture Perfect”?
I was actually thinking about a woman when I first started recording. We always had this on again off again romance
What is the hardest aspect of songwriting?
I don’t really have none honestly I think the hardest thing would be to come up with a title of whatever song I’m working on.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I don’t like to hear my music when I’m singing.
What were the biggest initial hurdles to pursuing your musical dreams and how did you overcome them?
Getting my music to sound clear enough to be played. I looked up online how to use my program I had on my laptop and worked from there.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?
