Interview: Lil Intern Shares Insights About His Musical Journey

Was there anyone or anything in particular that pushed you to pursue music?

My mom and dad

What has your musical journey been like? Run us through your story.

Multicultural family. Different musical tastes between all of us, between piano lessons and the sick music my parents, brothers and sisters listened to I think I was influenced by all of it.

What is the motivation behind such a lyrically rich and melodically unique single “Globe”?

It’s just how I felt when Taylor sent me the track. Me and T-Masc made that track in like 30 min or so. It was lit.

What is your real name?

Jacob Updike

How did you come up with the stage name?

Me and some friends were talking about different internships we had had over the years and I was like no cap if Lil Intern is available that’s mine haha. It was taken so I hacked into ig and took it

What does music mean to you?

It means everything.

If you are asked to collaborate with a renowned musician, whose name will you write down?

That is a tough one probably forever evolving. Cuz a few years ago I might have said some people I regret. Fuck Tekashi tho

Are you working independently or with any production house or recording label?

Independently

Are you working on any project right now and what can we expect from you in the future?

I am just focusing on a couple more singles and videos at the moment.
