Joe Macre has had such an inspiring music career that has shaped the accomplished artist that he is now. The owner of Cuppa Joe Music that is responsible for composing, producing, and engineering his and other artists’ projects, Joe has also built a reputation as a virtuosic bass player who has a way of melding bass into melodies that is unbeatable. Following his stint as a bass player in the band “Crack the Sky” and now as a solo performer who has gone to tour with some amazing artists such as Jim Croce and The Brecker Brothers, it is safe to say experience isn’t entirely a foreign concept to Macre.
“When You’re Smiling At Me” happens to be the second bonus track from his “Dream is Free” project. The first bonus track was “I Need You” which was deservedly acclaimed. I am also happy to report that “When You’re Smiling At Me” is doing amazingly well; for example, it already has over 26k Spotify streams in a short time!
And to think that Joe Macre harbored doubts about releasing these two projects is nothing short of atrocious (I for one am glad he chose otherwise.) A man who is not really limited, he went to great heights to make this track which is not entirely his style. “When You’re Smiling At Me” is a phenomenal R&B tune that has been flavored with aesthetic pop-rock percussion- bonus tracks don’t get better than this!
I always appreciate the fine-tuned details in music and I ethereally enjoyed those backing vocal harmonies. It was a very nice touch to this sound that gives it that quintessential nostalgic R&B vibe and those instruments are just golden. That groovy acoustic vibe and the accompanying pop-rock-flavored rhythms are pure bliss.
Macre does not really feel out of place here as he goes on to deliver a love-inspired ballad with his palatable vocals slinking through with command and warmth. At the end of it all, the mission has marked success and you have a new favorite to take you through the year and beyond!
While the melodies are still hot; follow the attached link and tell a friend to tell a friend and before you know it, the whole world will be grooving to, “When You’re Smiling At Me!”- Sounds just right doesn’t it?
