Jamelvitch was born and raised in the Ivory Coast before migrating to the United States in 2014. Jamelvitch was thrust into music as early as 15 years of age, which would go on to stamp an indelible imprint on the art he’d go on to create even when he moved to the US and got signed to an Oklahoma-based record label, ‘Diamond Inc’ in 2014. As someone who has interacted with various cultures, languages, and musical influences, his music cannot be boxed and can only be described as eclectic and prolific.
The West African pulls from an assortment of sounds, from Afrobeats and dancehall to hip hop and Ivorian sound, and fits each of these sounds like a glove in what he defines as ‘Noushi Love”—his own authentic sound that has a global appeal and takes listeners on brand new adventures that are simply unforgettable!
With that in mind, his new 5-track EP, “Noushi Love,” is much more than the music; this is his identity and brand; this is his style; and this is a release to announce to the universe what a profoundly versatile artist he is. This EP consists of French masterpieces, “Noushi Love,”, “Le son est doux” and “Cherie Coco,” and English bangers, “Nicotine” and “I beg”.
While I am not very conversant with the French language, I know for a fact that “Noushi Love” is a love ballad—it just has to be. Armed with a mesmerizing and magnetic singing style, Jamelvitch opens a new horizon to his unparalleled soundscape with this performance. Encapsulating the true essence of ballads, his smooth, sweet-talking vocals indeed hit deep into a listener’s soul. His lyrical performance breathes life into the lyrical narrative, which is exactly what the audience will love about this beautiful release.
“Le son est doux” is just heaven packaged in the form of a track. It does not matter how terrible of a dancer you actually are, you cannot resist those dance-inducing melodies here. This track had me on my feet, in a state of music-inspired ecstasy, dancing like no one is watching throughout its length; it’s just that addicting. This is a track capable of lighting fire in the streets as much as in the clubs.
“Le son est doux” is steeped in a club banger vibe with a dash of West African and dancehall beats, mixed with an authentic French-flavored lyrical flow that is as compelling as it is original! “Nicotine” has all the markings of a viral hit, especially with the seamless delivery of engaging infectious hooks over the excellent Afrobeats production.
“I beg” is reminiscent of Wizkid’s “Joro” but not to say it is a copyright; this tune is essentially different but just so happened to give me similar vibes with starboy’s one.
My favorites from the collection are, “Le son est doux,” “Nicotine,” and “Noushi Love,” which I have been playing on repeat ever since. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d actually give this EP a solid 8. I had so much fun listening to these eclectic bangers, and I hope you will feel the same.
