After Jameel Patrick’s exceptional single “Alone” was released, we caught up with an insightful interview with such a talented artist to explore his eidetic experience and what he had to say about his incredible musical journey so far. Read below to learn some interesting details about Jameel Patrick

Discovering your own musical style is a unique part of every artist’s journey. What sets your music apart? What is unique, or at least uncommon?

It’s probably taken longer than the average artist to find my own style. I think I have a weird voice haha so I had to develop a style that I feel complements that, so I have certain adlibs and such that I use on my records that give it a unique sound.

What draws you to your preferred genre?

I think genres are often up to the listener’s interpretation. I’m a huge fan of nu metal but are lot of those bands would not like to be referred to as such. So I make hip hop that often from a Christian perspective. Some may call it Christian rap, some may call it conscious rap, my single Alone is can be called emo rap. I just simply like to make music. When I write a record or produce a beat, I’m simply just thinking of music.

“Alone” is captivating from the start to finish with a combination of unique beats and catchy lyrics. What was the inspiration behind the single?

I appreciate that. There have been many times in my life where someone that I thought was a friend turned out not to be and that’s something that many people can relate to. So the record takes that basic emotion and turns it to a less than 2 minute piece of music.

Which one of your songs has the most memorable story for you? Whether it’s the writing process, recording sessions or release of the song.

As of now it’s my song Desiderium. Last year I met with someone who is the founder of a mental facility and has studied in the field. I had been feeling for years that I was undiagnosed on the autism spectrum and he gave me an assessment and concluded that he agreed with me. It has been something that is hard to process, so I wanted to give myself a chance to verbally say that I’m autistic, so that’s what the record was based off of. Also I felt like there was a chance I would never make music again, so that was also in the back of my mind.

Are you working independently or with any production house or recording label?

I currently work independently

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?

That would be a rapper named The Ambassador. He’s a classic rapper within the Christian rap genre and I would turn into a Jonah Hill fan girl if I did a record with him.

What is one message you would give to your fans?

Thank you guys for giving the guy from Cleveland, Ohio a chance to entertain you and hopefully the music can touch those who can relate to it

Thank you for speaking with us! For our final question, is there anything else you would like to add?

Thank you for your time. If you believe that pineapple belongs on pizza then live your best life.
