Love is one of the most common themes prevalent in so many artists’ catalogue, each tackling the subject from a different point of view. While many tracks may feel repetitive, or really not so original in their approach, there are so many artists who still delve deep into the theme, exploring it in a way that is both inimitable and still accessible. With his latest 9-track album dubbed “Someone I Always Wanted To Be,” pop-rock maestro igor decides to take us on this enthralling journey that is permeated with the complexity and intricacy of love; each track a realization to something bigger—a great moment of epiphany towards self-love…it may be long-time coming, but at the end, it is worth it and an experience so many of us can relate.

I don’t know why but those kind of toxic relationships that quite drive us to the edge are the hardest to leave; the kind that we sometimes compromise too much on who we are and the values we hold dear so as not to lose; the kind that leave us miserable at the expense of what could be considered ‘cheap thrills!’ If you get where I’m coming from, then you will absolutely love this project that has a super good ending…one that is you realizing your self-worth, finally letting go, healing, and moving on happily!

To give you a scope of what the album entails, I’ll start with the jam “These Walls,” a profoundly heartfelt performance that features the touchingly beautiful and mellifluent piano melodies at the intro, setting a delightful backdrop for igor’s warm, ear-pleasing, and emotive vocals as he breathes life in the most inviting way, backed by the striking vocal harmonies that give the song a wholesome feeling that reverberates through a listener’s soul. “These Walls” is where this journey begins, perhaps a journey that takes on unexpected twists thanks to how intricate love can be even when it starts beautifully. As the song progresses, igor unleashes a timeless medley of the flourishing riffs, punchy drums, and throbbing bass licks with some inescapable solos that will drive you crazy as much as that love.

Another sonic charm has to be “In This City,” a laid-back, piano-laden duet with the incredibly gifted Alana Diaz. The beauty of this performances rests on how they both wear their hearts on their sleeves, singing their hearts out and giving the song an irresistible emotional appeal that is deep, personal, and relatable. The stringed instrument augments the emotional depth and allure the song carries. There is that phase in love where you both refuse to read the signs and savor in empty promises, unfamiliar love, and hidden secrets, the love’s inevitable end pinned against blind affection.

One of a personal favorite, “My Own Way,” is pulsating off the bat—perhaps symbolizing that relief that comes with realizing who you are and prioritizing you, especially in that kind of suffocating love. This is the anthem of moving on, healing, and finding oneself back to themselves. The track has been characterized by a seamless crash of the driving riffs, throbbing drums and some clean guitar strings that provide the ideal support for the self-assured lead vocals of igor. This track is also anthemic; – there is no way you forget such a catchy, and infectious hook as this one!

There you go; “Someone I Always Wanted To Be” is a seamlessly storyline that is both personal, universal and accessible. That is why I am recommending to you this first-rate collection—relish it and let those songs you dig the most find their way into your favorite playlist.

Have yourself an awesome igor day, won’t you!
