A rap legend who refused to give up ever since he was born and diagnosed with Chronic asthma- fighting his way to survive and taking on that spirit even in his musical odyssey; Carlos Cruz who goes professionally as IamCruz; was born of Dominican parents and raised in Washington heights & Dyckman. Started performing at 17 years of age and took the whole of New York by storm, gracing numerous events and astonishing with the monumental scale of his lyricism and rap talent. He seeks motivation in everyday life and is a loving, caring, and protective father; his music is deeply relatable and emotional and mirrors the very ethics that bond the old school hip-hop to its listeners!

After showcasing what he’s capable of on the mic in his debut album, “The Vintage Tape (Part UNO), IamCruz is back again with a 12-piece artistic sequel dubbed, “The Vintage Tape (Part DOS)” – you better believe this is a vintage collection from top to bottom! He goes hard with an underground rap that is reminiscent of the 80s, 90s, and early 00s hip-hop music for that much-needed nostalgic feeling!

“A Vintage Statement” qualifies as the record of the year and rap music doesn’t come better than this- the lyrics go 100x hard and the way he performs over the laid-back yet effective melodicism with his delivery given center stage is strikingly remarkable. This is a lyrical feast that feels poetic and takes a listener on a mirage of real emotions and qualifies for numerous repeated experiences. The weight of that lyrical invention is immeasurable!

“Potential” has the potential to turn a random listener into a fan right from the dedicated and cinematic intro that allows the track to build before the vintage collection of rap beats come calling- escorted gloriously by some deep phased bass and extensive drums with some hypnotic percussions following through in the background. This is exactly how hip-hop music used to feel back in the days and IamCruz delivers some lyrically educative bars over the nostalgic instrumentation.

“87’ Cutlass” featuring DJ Tiny Tim transports a listener to 1999 with just the start of the melody. There is a heavy introduction served to smoking elements with some timeless features of the beats and added that spark from the scratch of the turn tables as IamCruz indisputably flies faultlessly over the instrumentation and delivers some qualified heavyweight bars of his own like the rap whizz he is!

“Strange Faces” is another ageless tune that will bang till the end of time! Believe me, when I say it sticks to the head right from the first listen as the dazzling piano dominant melodicism is met with the sharp-edge lyrical masterclass of IamCruz who strikes with efficiency and proficiency to slay the euphonious beast in poetic fashion- it’s evident that he was born for moments like these and in here, he shines the brightest!

“Bobby’s World” featuring Saxophonist Tacuma Bradley is a powerful record that features two lyrically gifted and passionate personas giving their best and allowing a listener to get heavily invested and inducted into their music world which goes all the way from the intro to the outro! Saxophonist Tacuma Bradley’s saxophone solo at the end of “Bobby’s World” is a moment of pure beauty and joy that will leave you breathless. Words may actually wipe off some of the magnificence that is this authentic track right here!

Tracks like, “Papa Shango”, “U Gon C’, “Big Moves” and “Wake Up” go further to express why IamCruz is a rare and different breed and there could only be one way to explain this masterpiece; it is indisputably a ‘Vintage Collection!’

“The Vintage Tape (Part DOS)” is available for streaming on all your favorite channels; follow the attached link and let your friends know that you are in for a listening party and they’d be damned if they missed out!
