We’re lucky enough to have sneaked in for an interview with a talented artist. He was generous enough to lend some of his precious moments as we gleefully stumbled deep into his personal and professional life. Here are some excerpts from the interview:

What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?

Definitely the storytelling through music part. Both stories that uplift people and also stories that release dark secrets that many people have been holding onto and have been debilitating their lives in many ways.

Describe your creative process when you write new music, for example, your song “Childish.”

For me it always starts with good production and then I pray about it and meditate on it. Once I get an answer from God I start singing lyrics that I feel inside my heart and the concept naturally comes through those lyrics that I feel.

Do you follow a process or ritual before a performance to get rid of nerves or performance anxiety?

Meditation and prayer is my cure for anxiety before a performance. Knowing that God will catch me when I fall gives me the utmost confidence when I perform.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?

I love tennis and watching horror movies and shows. My horror movie love actually came out in the dark musicality of my EP “The Book Of Mary” that debuts on April 30th as well in my single “Childish” (which will be on that EP).

What strengths do you have that you believe make you a great artist?

Just being myself really. My uniqueness will natural shine through as God made me.

Are there any musicians who inspire you?

Yes, artists like Ne-Yo, Trey Songz, Norah Jones, Ledisi, Erykah Badu (to name a few). I’m a multi genre artist (so the list of artists that inspire me is almost endless).

What qualities do you admire about them?

The artists that inspire me are all uniquely themselves, and that’s the part I take with me no matter what genre I’m singing.

What accomplishments do you see yourself achieving in the next five to 10 years?

I see myself evangelizing the good news all over the world as well as giving back through humanitarian efforts.

For our final question, is there anything else you would like to add?

Yes, to believe in yourself or no one else will.
