Dmentid Powers has found a new meaning and resolve in his role as the hip-hop MC and wordsmith who brings back the sound we remember it to be. He is the name behind the influential rap mask who was raised in the Bronx but resides in Brooklyn New York. He is a member of the FNM music group and a father of 3 kids. “Aspire” the album is his 3rd fully released project and he has a new music video that is set for May 12th official drop.
His hip-hop style and flow include turning those real-life situations into powerful and impactful rap anthems that so many hip-hop lovers of the past and current generation can be able to relate.
“Aspire” is a melodic hip-hip expedition featured in 9 different routes as Dmentid takes a listener on this rap transcending safari with his powerful and educated bars that are layered in between the old and the modern hip-hop sound to complete a wholesome listening experience that is just as entertaining as it is introspective.
While the entire Album is a regal work, our favorite tracks are “Real Me”, “All About”, “Wake Up” and “Hey You”
“Real Me” is a real gem straight off a certified school of hip-hop and the way everything fits in like a puzzle will endear itself to the old and new hip-hop fanatics. This is an emotion-filled truthful tune and crates a demanding scene right from the intro where those percussive allure and intro vocal drops are followed in sensation with the wavy beats that jump in at a listener with a tremendous amount of rhythm and melody!
Dmentid has a unique ability to describe his experiences and thoughts, with an interesting perspective and a unique cadence that is all his own. Dmentid delivers a distinct writing style and vocal tone to “All About,” with fast bars and powerful intensity set over an excellent backdrop with a melodic hook. He raps almost breathlessly, discussing his life experiences, his philosophy, and the events that shaped him.
Something about “Hey You” that feels personal; almost like it was born of reflective emotions as Dmentid offers one of the most heartfelt and emotional rap performances there is, with the instrumentation modest enough to allow his bar drops take the center stage. There is also an effective and compelling gesture of the 90s feel in the beats and overall euphony that allows the listener to feel right at home throughout.
For those that just enjoy good music and a good story, “Aspire” is certainly worth the listen. If you have been searching for something different, something that leaves the current popular hip-hop scene behind and taps into a different world of artistry… That’s exactly where Dmentid will take you.
