We are happy to have you today. Tell us about your 2021 so far! Can you share more with our readers about your latest release “Autistic Genius”?

Absolutely! It is the 1st track of our newest album 1-800-HAPPY-NOW. It is the only track to feature musicians other than myself (David Christ) or Zachary Carson (The Apocalypse)

What inspired the single?

Well, the song is inspired by true events. I was homeless until I began crashing with Zach and we shared a vision of music and art. I was obsessed with 1982’s Thomas Dolby’s “She Blinded me with Science”. I gave the vision to The Apocalypse and the Autistic Genius is what we created.

Do you get nervous before you release new music or is it more of an excitement for you?

It’s all excitement. I never dreamed I would have a band. I grew up dirt poor in a bi-racial family in the deepest recesses of Alabama poverty. I never thought I would do anything with my life, so releasing music is a very spiritual experience as it represents my freedom and sovereignty in this reality.

How did the band first get started?

I was on a journey of self-exploration, and getting back in touch with the things that fed my soul. As a newly divorced man, I thought I would take advantage of the solitude and learn about myself. I got back into comedy and started hitting open mics. I ran into Zach, and I thought his writing was hilarious. We teamed up to make comedy content on YouTube and I was telling him about some of my dreams and I told him I wanted to start a band and he said, “I’m in!” no questions asked. We’ve been an inseparable team ever since.

How would you describe your sound to someone who just listened to your music for the first time?

Art. For us, it is about the communication of thoughts and ideas. We approach each project with a particular sound in mind, and try to capture that as we create our own unique sound. I would describe our latest release, “1-800-HAPPY-NOW” as “Alternate Dimension Pop Hits from the 80’s and 90’s.”

How do you get pumped up before a big event?

I get pumped the second I know I have an event. I enjoy the rush as long as I can.

Thank you for speaking with us! For our final question, is there anything else you would like to add?

Yes, the majority of the proceeds from my music endeavor will be going to my organization, Love’s Beloved Garden, where we hope to build sustainable communities to end homelessness across the world. To learn more please visit, www.lovesbelovedgarden.org.
