While you can accuse Arizona-based emcee, Cedrick Bogan of other crimes, being inconsistent is not one of them. This hip-hop star who has meaningfully been impacting the fabric of the genre never seems to rest; he has been consistently feeding the rap world with back-to-back hits. It never gets tiring to hear him come back harder with tracks that ooze charisma, raw talent, and widespread and well-deserved critical acclaim.

Bogan’s unique and distinct sound has earned him a loyal following among hip-hop purists. Known for his raw lyricism and gritty production, Cedrick has an undeniable presence that always delights hip-hop fans. After releasing the 1st and 2nd installments of the joint EP series “Social Phenomenon,” Cedrick and Chicago-based Drewlitty return with the 3rd installment, “Social Phenomenon 3.”

A 5-track masterpiece offering slightly over 16 minutes of a cathartic listening experience, the duo certainly didn’t come to play. They really raised the bar with this project, which feels next-level for both of them.

The beats in the opening “Getting Money Non-Stop” are everything, man. That’s some sick arrangement, and the flows are slick as both Cedrick and Drewlitty make an anthem out of their rhymes with efficient showmanship. This is a certified street anthem that gives an ode to street hustle and grind—chasing the bag and not being concerned with what others think about you.

There is a haunting percussive element to the beat that stays with the listener even after the track ends.

“I keep coming back” has been delivered straight from the 90s school of thought, with the accompanying nostalgic melodies offering solid support for the duo’s first-class performance. Proving why Bogan was born mentally prepared, this track is a masterclass in authentic 90s-inspired hip-hop that will get you in the mood. The track also has that East Coast vibe.

“Master My Emotions” is emotional as Bogan lets his soul bleed over the mic in order to connect with the listener on a deeply personal level. Delivering some masterful flows and wise perspectives over the exceptionally laid beats, Bogan’s smooth delivery combined with Drewlitty’s poetic, soulful verses make for a powerful and emotive experience.

“On-Site” is a bit heavy and aggressive, as Bogan and Drewlitty come off as hard-hitting and direct with an intoxicating concoction of visual metaphors and analytical wordplay. Like a Grim Reaper, Bogan is at his most savage as he deploys his killer instincts with great success!

“Social Phenomenon 3” is a must-have for lovers of original hip-hop sounds that also feel way ahead of their time!
