Bob DeNiro has had an eventful path through his movement up the ranks within his musical journey. Starting it off in 1999 as a City Battle rapper. And through this, Bob has had the fortune of encountering several opportunities to nurture his talents in musical production, sound engineering together with video production.

His winding road has led to him finalizing his musical niche solidly within mainstream rap music. A superstar from performance to delivery, he is giving rappers a run for their money out here with his rap ascending flows. He is monumentally equipped with some rap wisdom and is not afraid to dazzle with the mic in his hands.

Hailing from the unassuming town of Delaware Bob DeNiro finally graces us with his new album release “Evil Genius 2.” released under his own record label ‘Paid To Breathe Syndicate.’

“Evil Genius 2” is a semi-concept album and as with any concept album, it is really ambitious. Thankfully, it achieves most of what it sets out to do. The project is a recounting of tales consisting of the events Bob has gone through both in the industry and other life experiences, and most importantly his relationship with a past lover who is the mother of his son.

There are a lot of tracks that hit really hard, with a lot of replay value, such as the intro “Out of the Way” – a raw and authentic exhibition of Bob’s ability with wordplay – he shows how effortlessly he can weave words into dense, cohesive webs of meaning over the tremendously created deep beats. This is a truly spectacular intro!

The beat in “Northside”, which has a Pharrell-style groove, really illustrates DeNiro’s production sensibilities as it blends trap with more R ‘n B drum vibes. The combination of these styles really shows how DeNiro is able to bridge the gap between genres and create something that sounds fresh and new.

“Chemicals” is another highlight with the rapper talking about vices, drugs, and the complex relationship we have with them. The track is followed by the awesome “Spider” which features a very hard-hitting beat that’s hard not to move to.

Bob DeNiro also flirts with more mainstream rap sounds, like on the track “When It’s 2am” – which feels like the most pop cut out of the whole album. While still feeling more mainstream, it still fits perfectly with the rest of the tracks.

“Get Better” is an emotional and intimate ballad that echoes Bob’s life’s hardships, trials, and tribulations. So many times have you pondered why things in life aren’t going your way- this is the song to soothe your anguish and remind you that things will get better.

I’m not one to spoil the party but you should know there’s more to where these tracks come from. Overall, “Evil Genius 2” is a very consistent affair, a very entertaining album that holds its energy during all its twenty tracks, making us wonder what will be the next steps of the evil genius Bob DeNiro.
