Iranian Gifted Lyrist BenYa Speaks His Truths in an Emotionally Moving Single Titled “My Testimony”

For many of us who enjoy the tranquility that our home countries afford, sometimes we go as far as taking things for granted but for a refugee like BenYa the artist who has seen it all, perhaps we should be more alive and happy even the slightest chance life affords us; forced out of his country in Iran in the year 2009, he has had to undergo the turmoil of being in exile and seeking asylum for almost 9 years. What he describes as a lonely and heart-wrenching journey, he constantly found himself facing deportation at the slightest provocation from the authorities in Australia. What do you really do when the country you are fleeing to does not want you and you can’t go back you’re your war-torn country because it is similar to subjecting yourself to a death sentence? As I said, many of us may not understand but BenYa is here to tell his story.

Someone who fell in love with music when he was young, the circumstances he faced made him fall out of love with what was perhaps his only solace. The fact that we are talking about him now suggests a ray of sunshine through all this darkness. Before listening to “My Testimony” single, I listened to his unanimously acclaimed tune “Good Times” released on the eve of 2021 and I understand why it has amassed such tremendous numbers; his musical gift is no fluke at all!
