Thank you for speaking with us at African Hype. What’s the first thing you hope new listeners feel when listening to your music?

The first thing I hope new listeners feel when they listen to my music is the grittiness of New York. Now there is a lot of older people tricking younger kids into making the wrong decision. My older music, which I am currently releasing will highlight why I was wrong for many years & maybe show my generation why they are so confused.

Your latest track “Poker” is a laid-back blend of smooth lyricism and a clean production. How did this song come together?

The song Poker came together by me & my producer Flip, just looking for some beats & then we came across this one & knew I had to record on it. It took me somewhere from 15-30 minutes to write the whole song. I really love making music which is why the experience was fun

What inspired you to pursue music?

I was always a performer since I was a young kid but what inspired me to really pursue music was that all the mainstream music started getting worse when I was around 15 years old. I started writing my own & it wasn’t good at first but I got better with every new song I wrote & once I turned 16 I started going to different studios to record.

Do you have any dream collaborations? Who are they?

My dream collaborations are: Fetty Wap, Trippie Redd, Ne-Yo & Drake. I feel like I could make a very versatile song with any of them on the same song as me.

What’s one thing you’ve learned about the music industry since you began releasing your own music?

One thing I learned about the music industry is that everyone is out for themselves & it showed me why I can’t trust everyone so easily. Also, I learned how vital Spotify playlists & placements are in order to grow a following. Without those, it’s impossible to grow.

Which song of yours is your favorite & why?

My favorite song by myself is a song called “Black America” not only does it apply to a wide audience but at the same time, I talk about my experiences about being a mixed child & half black in America. Hopefully,  a lot of people will be able to relate to this song.

What’s been your greatest musical accomplishment so far?

My greatest music accomplishment was making 200 songs. I haven’t been on any placements yet because I just started using social media. For now I just really love making music & trying to leave a message while doing so.

What are your goals for the rest of 2021?

My goals for 2021 is to grow all my social media pages & get signed to a label so that I could get more placements from the people who are already well connected. By the way my Instagram is: @benevolent.dyn
