252NOM joins us again to discuss his music, his inspirations, and what we can expect from him in the future! Make sure to check out our interview below:
“Hourglass” is captivating from the start to finish with a combination of unique beats and catchy lyrics. What was the inspiration behind the single?
It came from a point of life when I was in a dark place. I feel like as men sometimes we don’t know how to explain ourselves, so we materialize things through physical actions. I knew the relationship was bad for me then and wouldn’t survive in the future for that moment if felt like my minds saving grace. Though it added stress, it suppressed it at the same time.
What has your musical journey been like? Run us through your story.
My musical Journey has been a crazy one? I started writing as a young kid, I didn’t really know how to speak my emotion so I would try to write it out the best I could. I grew up poor and didn’t have much, so writing was like another world I could step into to escape my own. I feel like I learn how to make music backwards though lol I learned lyricism first, then I developed a flow, then I figured out my sound as the years went on. I just recently came to the realization that I’m talented in making music and I have something to give the world that only I can give.
What were the biggest initial hurdles to pursuing your musical dreams and how did you overcome them?
The biggest hurdles? One was finances which I feel like a lot of artist face, not having the money to promote or push myself, and even more than that having the money to start establishing a brand. Even with that, I feel like my real biggest hurdle was I didn’t have the knowledge I needed to be successful in music I thought if I just put my music out there and it’s good enough I’ll go viral. When there’s so much more you must put in line, people don’t buy music they buy brands.
Do you have a favorite musical project that you’ve worked on?
Do I have a favorite project I’m working on? Yes, I’ve got a few. Honestly, my entire new: The “2” album I’m making now has so many songs that I love up there that the world hasn’t heard yet. This album will explain to the world so much about myself, but also in the same hand leave me emotionally exposed.
Do you have any dream collaborations? Who are they?
Do I have dream collaborations? Plenty, I want to record with Drake, Tory lanez, Ryan trey, Bryson tiller — And of course All my NC artist J cole, Murray, and the baby I want to help NC grow. I feel like we have so much talent that the world hasn’t seen so I want to help expose them to it.
What’s your motto or the advice you live by?
Everyday, work toward your dreams and goals, because if you’re the hardest and smartest worker in the room no one can tell you what you can’t do. I always research my own knowledge because I know I have my best intentions in mind, and I know knowledge is power.
Are you working on any project right now and what can we expect from you in the future?
Absolutely, you can expect a song every 3-4 weeks. I’m making a project called: The “2”. It symbolizes my cursed blessing, two sides of a coin, for every action there’s an opposite reaction. It a balance that’ll explain the man I am today, and the man I’m going to be in the future. Thank you for speaking with us! For our final question, is there anything else you would like to add?
Just for everyone else keep pushing forward, I’m open to supporting anyone that supports me. I want to see everyone build and be successful, it’s a long road but if we travel together, the walk won’t seem as long.
